· Gardeners are responsible for planting, maintaining, and harvesting their own garden plot(s) throughout the growing season.
· Your garden space should be kept clean and free of debris, trash and litter. Keep any paths and community areas adjacent to your plot clean and weed free. (The compost bin is currently closed /spring 2010/ - we are looking for a volunteer to oversee the use of the bin)
· Crops must be harvested once they are mature. Any extras can be donated to Aid In Milan. 89 West Main
Street Milan, MI 48160-1213 - (734) 439-8420
· Aggressive or invasive plants (lemon balm, mint, etc.) should be planted only in containers and or raised beds
· Picking from other plots is not allowed unless you have permission.
· Gardeners should keep weeds to a minimum avoiding their spread to common spaces or those of other gardeners.
· Once application is approved you may begin gardening
· Gardens should be at least partially planted by June 15, or your plot may be forfeited - any deposit requests must be made between November 15th and December 15th of the current growing season.
· All plots will be inspected on a monthly basis by a member of the PCLG garden board. Those that do not meet guidelines will be notified and failure to respond to noted problem within 10 days may result in forfeiture of your plot.
· Unattended water is not permitted and gardeners should make efforts to conserve water. The main water valve should remain locked when not in use. (Mulching with hay, leaves, or grass clippings reduces evaporation. Watering in the morning is best).
· All gardeners must make sure to arrange for “substitute” care of your plot when you are on vacation or otherwise unable to care for it.
· Use of fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and weed killers is not allowed.
· Gardeners must clear their plot by November 15 (Unless they have approval for a winter garden).
· All gardeners are required to participate in a PCLG workday during the growing season.
· Family members are welcome and young children should be supervised at all times.
· Pets are not allowed in plots but are allowed leashed in adjacent grassy areas.
· The garden is open from dawn to dusk, 7 days per week.
· Park only in adjacent parking lots. Do not drive on grassy areas.
· I understand that neither the garden group nor the owners of the land are responsible for my actions. I THERFORE AGREE TO HOLD HARMLESS THE GARDEN GROUP AND OWNERS OF THE LAND FOR ANY LIABLILITY, DAMAGE, LOSS OR CLAIM THAT OCCURS IN CONNECTION WITH USE OF THE GARDEN BY ME OR ANY OF MY GUESTS.
